Day-Wise Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Srinagar

Land at Srinagar's Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport and transfer to your hotel or houseboat for check-in. In the evening, take a Shikara ride on Dal Lake, gliding past the lake's famous floating vegetable gardens and open water stretches. Dal Lake is also a genuinely good spot for birdwatching from the boat — kingfishers, little bitterns, common pariah kites, and grebes are all regularly spotted along the way. Overnight in Srinagar.

Day 2: Srinagar Sightseeing

A full day covering Srinagar's best-known sights, starting with the Shankaracharya Temple, perched on a hilltop with sweeping views over the city and Dal Lake. From there, visit the Hazratbal Shrine, set on the western shore of Dal Lake — notable for being the only major shrine in Srinagar with a domed roof rather than the pagoda-style roofs typical of the city's other mosques — followed by the historic Jamia Masjid in the heart of the old city. In the afternoon, the itinerary moves through Srinagar's celebrated Mughal Gardens: Nishat Bagh ("Garden of Pleasure"), laid out in 1633 by Asif Khan; Shalimar Bagh ("Garden of Love"), built in 1619 by Emperor Jahangir for his wife Nur Jahan; and Chashme Shahi ("The Royal Spring"), a smaller terraced garden long favoured by Kashmir's royalty and picnickers alike. Day 3: Srinagar to Pahalgam

Transfer from Srinagar to Pahalgam, known historically as the "Valley of Shepherds." En route, there's an opportunity to stop at local saffron fields — Kashmir is one of the very few places in the world where saffron is commercially grown — and see the region's traditional bat-making industry (Kashmir willow is famous for cricket bats). On arrival in Pahalgam, spend time walking along the Lidder River, which runs through the town. Pahalgam is a well-known Bollywood filming location and remains a favoured health resort, with a mix of traditional huts and modern private hotels. It's also the starting point for several regional treks, including the well-known 35-km route through pine forests to Kolahoi Glacier. Dinner and overnight stay in Pahalgam.

Optional (own arrangement): excursions to Chandanwadi (3,288m), Betaab Valley, and Aru Valley — the latter marking the source of the Sheshnag River, framed by snow-capped peaks and dense pine and deodar forest — are commonly arranged locally, either by hired cab or pony ride. Pony operators hold exclusive access rights in parts of Gulmarg and Pahalgam, which is why vehicle access is limited in these two areas; your driver, tour manager, or local guide's advice is worth following closely here.

Day 4: Pahalgam — Day at Leisure

After breakfast, the day is entirely free. This is deliberately left open — use it to rest, explore Pahalgam at your own pace, or arrange one of the optional Day 3 excursions (Betaab Valley, Aru Valley, or Chandanwadi) if you didn't fit it in already. Dinner and overnight stay in Pahalgam.

Day 5: Pahalgam to Gulmarg

Transfer from Pahalgam to Gulmarg, sitting at roughly 8,700 feet and known as the "Meadow of Flowers." Once there, the highlight of the day is the Gulmarg Gondola — a two-stage cable car and one of the highest-altitude ropeways in the world, climbing toward Apharwat Peak and capable of moving over 600 people an hour between stations. Gondola tickets are subject to availability and are payable separately unless specifically included in your booking. Dinner and overnight stay in Gulmarg.

Day 6: Gulmarg to Srinagar — Departure

An early breakfast, then check out and begin the drive back to Srinagar in time for your onward flight — bringing the trip to a close with a final stretch of Kashmir's mountain scenery.

• The package cost includes 5% GST on the total tour cost.
• This package is available for booking on any day of the year — there are no fixed group departure dates.
• Gondola tickets, pony rides, local cab hire for optional excursions (Betaab Valley, Aru Valley, Chandanwadi), and any other personal expenses or services not specifically listed in the inclusions are payable separately.

Booking Terms & Policies

Cancellation Policy

• Cancel more than 30 days before travel: 25% of the total cost is charged as a cancellation fee.
• Cancel between 15 and 30 days before travel: 50% of the total cost is charged.
• Cancel within 15 days of travel: the full amount is non-refundable.
• If part of the trip has to be cancelled due to unforeseen events (bad weather, strikes, government restrictions), Vacationum will try to offer an alternative, but a cash refund cannot be guaranteed in these cases.

Date Change Policy

• Requested after 7 days of booking but more than 30 days before travel: 25% rescheduling charge applies.
• Requested within 30 days of travel: 100% of the cost is charged.
• If you booked within 30 days of your travel date, no date changes are permitted.

Refund Policy

• Refunds, where applicable, are processed within 10–15 working days and credited to your Vacationum wallet as Vcash — not back to your original payment method.

Payment Policy

• If booking at least 3 months before departure, you can choose to pay in parts.
• 100% of the total tour cost must be paid 30 days before the date of travel.

Confirmation Policy

1. You'll receive an email confirmation after your initial payment.
2. Your booking is fully confirmed only once 100% payment is received.
3. On full payment, you'll receive your official booking voucher — covering your itinerary, hotel vouchers, and activity confirmations.

Good to Know Before You Travel

• Best time to visit: March to May brings spring blooms (including Srinagar's famous tulip season), June to August is pleasantly cool and the main season for Gulmarg and Pahalgam sightseeing, September to November brings Kashmir's chinar-leaf autumn colours, and December to February is snow season — best for Gulmarg's skiing scene, though some higher-altitude sightseeing can be weather-dependent at this time.
• Altitude and warm clothing: Gulmarg sits at roughly 8,700 feet, and temperatures there are noticeably cooler than Srinagar year-round — warm layers are worth packing even for a summer trip, and comfortable, sturdy footwear matters for both Gulmarg and Pahalgam's uneven terrain.
• ID requirements: carrying a valid government-issued photo ID is essential throughout the trip, including for hotel check-ins and any permits required for specific sightseeing points.
• Optional add-ons to budget for separately: Gulmarg Gondola tickets, pony rides in Gulmarg and Pahalgam, and local cab hire for Betaab Valley, Aru Valley, or Chandanwadi are not included in the base package and are arranged locally at additional cost.
