The Phi Phi Islands — Plan It Right or Don't Go

The Phi Phi Islands split between Phi Phi Don (inhabited, with guesthouses and restaurants) and Phi Phi Leh (uninhabited, where Maya Bay is). What Is It?

The Full Moon Party happens every month on the night of the full moon at Haad Rin Beach, Koh Phangan, Gulf of Thailand. Between 10,000 and 30,000 people attend each month — December and January draw the highest numbers. The party begins around 9 PM and continues until dawn across multiple music stages (electronic, reggae, hip-hop, rock), with fire shows, UV-lit beach bars, neon body paint, and fire jump ropes.

It is simultaneously one of the most spectacular and one of the most chaotic events in Southeast Asia. Going in knowing what to expect makes the difference between a great night and a disorienting one.
